And the entire church prays before communion (or the priest prays, and the church overhears or repeats after him):
I believe, O Lord, and confess that Thou art truly the Christ, the Son of the Living God, Who came into the world to save sin ners, of whom I am first. I believe also that this is truly Thine own pure Body, and that this is truly Thine own precious Blood. Therefore, I pray to Thee: have mercy on me and forgive my transgressions both voluntary and involuntary, of word and of deed, committed in knowledge or in ignorance; and make me worthy to partake without condemnation of Thy most pure Mysteries for the remission of my sins and unto life everlasting. Amen.
Of Thy Mystical Supper, O Son of God, accept me today as a communicant, for I will not speak of Thy Mystery to Thine enemies, neither like Judas will I give Thee a kiss; but like the thief will I confess Thee: Remember me, O Lord, in Thy Kingdom.
May the communion of Thy Holy Mysteries be neither to my judgment nor to my condemnation, O Lord, but to the healing of soul and body.
Faithful: Amen.
And the entire church partakes of the Holy Gifts, first the priest, then all the faithful (in order, according to rank and ministry).
After communion, the priest says: It has touched our lips, and will take away our iniquities, and will purge our sins. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Here’s the translation of the text:
“And the entire church sings:
Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the Holy Lord Jesus, the only Sinless One. We venerate Your Cross, O Christ, and we praise and glorify Your Holy Resurrection, for You are our God, and we know no other than You, we call on Your name. Come, all you faithful, let us venerate Christ’s Holy Resurrection. For behold, through the Cross joy has come into all the world. Ever blessing the Lord, let us praise His Resurrection, for by enduring the cross for us, He has destroyed death by death.
Shine, shine, O New Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Dance and rejoice, O Zion; and you, Pure Mother of God, rejoice in the resurrection of the one you bore.
O Christ, great and most holy Pascha, O Wisdom, Word, and Power of God, grant that we may more perfectly partake of You in the never-ending day of Your Kingdom.
The priest, blessing the faithful with his hand, says:
Save, O God, Your people and bless Your inheritance.
Faithful: We have seen the true Light, we have received the Heavenly Spirit; we have found the true Faith, worshipping the undivided Trinity, for it has saved us.
The priest returns to the holy altar, and taking the censer, censes three times, saying:
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let Your glory be over all the earth.
Then, turning to the faithful and blessing them with the holy chalice, he says:
Always, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.
The priest proceeds to the altar and places the Holy Gifts there.
Faithful: Amen. Let our mouths be filled with Your praise, O Lord, that we may sing of Your glory; for You have made us worthy to partake of Your holy, divine, immortal, and life-creating Mysteries. Keep us in Your holiness, that all the day we may meditate upon Your righteousness. Alleluia (three times).
Then, following the order of the liturgy, the thanksgiving ektenia begins:
Priest: Let us stand aright, having partaken of the divine, holy, pure, immortal, heavenly, life-giving, and awesome Mysteries of Christ, let us worthily give thanks to the Lord.
Faithful: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Help, save, have mercy, and protect us, O God, by Your grace.
Faithful: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Having asked for a perfect, holy, peaceful, and sinless day, let us commit ourselves, and one another, and all our life to Christ our God.
Faithful: To You, O Lord.
The priest prays (Thanksgiving Prayer):
Thank You, O Master who loves mankind, benefactor of our souls, that You have made us worthy this day of Your heavenly and immortal mysteries. Make straight our path; strengthen us all in Your fear; guard our life; make firm our steps; through the prayers and intercessions of the Glorious Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary and all Your saints. For You are our sanctification, and to You we send up glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Faithful: Amen.
Priest: Let us depart in peace. Faithful: In the name of the Lord. Priest: Let us pray to the Lord. Faithful: Lord, have mercy.
The priest prays (post-ambon prayer):
Lord, You bless those who bless You and sanctify those who trust in You. Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; preserve the fullness of Your Church, sanctify those who love the beauty of Your house, glorify them in return by Your divine power and forsake not us who hope on You. Grant peace to Your world, to Your churches, to the priests, to our nation under God, to our government, and to all Your people. For every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from You, the Father of lights; and to You we give glory, thanksgiving, and worship, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
