(IV) 3.Give Thanks for Everything! Rejoice Always!

Examples of “everything is good” in each person’s life are innumerable (every moment of being!), and anyone who pays a bit of attention to their life can instantly, without hesitation, without delving into their memory, provide a dozen miraculous “everything is good” instances (i.e., transformed in the light of truth from “everything is bad” to “everything is very good,” “everything is the best it can be”), and we will give an example of God’s Loving Providence-Care through a parable in which everyone can see themselves.

A king had a faithful servant. The king and the servant went everywhere together, and the servant always helped the king with everything. This servant constantly said, “Everything will be good, everything is good.” “What will be good?” others asked him. The weather was gloomy, and the servant said, “Good, very good.” “Look, it’s cloudy and drizzling, cold and damp!” “Good, very good.” The next day, the sun was shining. The servant again said, “Everything is good today.”

One day, when they went hunting, something happened to the bow the servant was holding, and it suddenly fired on its own, cutting off the king’s finger with the released arrow. “What have you done to me?” the king shouted, “Oh, oh, it hurts, it hurts!” But the servant turned to him without fear and said again, “Everything will be good!” “How can everything be good, you fool? Do you realize what you’re saying? Since ‘everything is good,’ you’ll go to prison for what you’ve done to me, and there you’ll find out what ‘everything is good’ means.” The king threw the servant into prison, and he remained without a finger. However, he continued to hunt because it was his weakness, his passion.

One day, while stalking game, the king wandered far from the others, deeper into the forest than usual, and was caught by natives who typically sacrificed captured strangers to their gods and finally ate them because they were cannibals. They led him along, singing and celebrating with shouts and exclamations: “We caught the king, now we’ll kill him and eat him.” And the king thought sadly, “Look at what awaits me. All my subjects fear me, but these cannibals will eat me alive, and I don’t know how to save myself.” As they were leading him, one of the natives noticed that the king was missing a finger. The native exclaimed, “Oh, oh, now we can’t perform the sacrifice and eat the king because he is defective, he has a physical flaw-damage-defect.”

Their “god” had decreed, according to their tradition, that only a person without blemish, without defect, could be sacrificed and eaten. And the king was missing a finger. “Oh, oh,” said the native, “what a pity. Alright, go away. You are unworthy for us to eat.” And the king left, crossed himself, and thanked God, saying, “I am saved, I am alive! I was saved because I didn’t have a finger!” He was encouraged by this and became very, very happy. His first thought was of his servant, whom he had thrown into prison. The king immediately ordered his release.

The servant was summoned to the king, who, with excitement, said, “Forgive me, my servant, for what I did to you. I caused you such suffering, so much grief, because of me you ended up in prison.” The servant turned to him and again said, “Everything is good, everything is good, my king! Don’t worry!” “You suffered so much in prison, and you say ‘everything is good’?!?” “But, my king, think, if I hadn’t been in prison and had been with you in the forest hunting, who would the natives have eaten then? They would have eaten me! You didn’t have one finger, and that saved you! But I have all my fingers, and I wouldn’t have been saved!” And here the king understood that in reality, everything is good as it happens…

(Now, in the light of one’s life-reign, let each person see themselves in this king! “And who is my servant?” you may ask. Each of us has a Faithful Servant – this is the Lord Jesus Christ, who constantly and faithfully serves us (“I have come not to be served, but to serve everyone, and to give My life for everyone”), caring for us in everything (food, clothing, health… absolutely everything needed for temporary life and for salvation-deification – for eternal life); we beat Him, crucify Him, despise Him, hate Him… and He is Faithful to us and Loves us unconditionally, Caring-Providentially for us!!! The cause of every joy for a person-king is the Servant-Slave – the Lord Jesus Christ, who cares for everything for us, knows what is happening, and Wisely-Lovingly allows everything to happen that occurs in each person’s life; everything serves us for salvation, through everything and everyone, the Lord Jesus Christ serves us, dressing us in wedding garments, so that we are able to eat and drink with Him in His Kingdom).

In the world, there is nothing meaningless, purposeless – everything has a “plan” (God’s), everything moves (consciously or unconsciously – the moment will come when God will be everything in everything and for everything) towards a goal, everything has a purpose and reason (and this reason is not in the past, but in the future – everything that happens occurs not for something or because of something (in the sense: as a consequence of the past, as punishment for the past, retribution for deeds-actions…), but for something, towards something (which, of course, takes into account the initial data of the present, which are synergistic (the cooperation of God and man – Gift and acceptance of the gift, responses to God’s love) consequences of the past) – God directs all our actions-fruits towards good, to the goal, for achieving the goal – acquiring the Holy Spirit, deification). If a person watches themselves and is attentive to what happens in their life, they will at some point feel that there was a “plan” for everything (“why this or that had to happen”). The whole “plan” (in the smallest details and subtlest nuances) can only be fully understood from eternity, when the path is passed and the goal is reached (when they will say: “Righteous are You, Lord, in all that You have done for us!” (Rev. 19:2a, Dan. 3:27)), but some things (crude and large) they can now already comprehend, looking as through a darkened glass. For example, the “plan” behind the illness or death of your relative, loved one, child; or why you had to lose your job in a particular year. There is a wise “plan” for everything, which every person, in the simplicity of their heart, must trust. Often, in such situations, when unforeseen events occur, one person loses their mind, another believes in nothing and doesn’t know what to do in life. A person falls into a terrible dead end, hopelessness. But there is, of course, a way out: to give oneself to God’s Love, Providence, and Care. Then everything will contribute to good, everything will turn to good. Every person in their life must learn to say: “Everything will be good.” “But now it’s not good,” a person hears a voice inside. “Everything will be good.” “Even what is bad now? Will this also be good?” “Yes, this too. Everything will be good. Wait, be patient, and you will see for yourself. You will see how events will change. Patience is needed (“he who endures to the end will be saved; he who completes the entire course of treatment will be healed!”). And eventually, out of the bitter and painful will come something sweet and pleasant. We must learn to trust God and give everything beyond our control (with a merciful and humble heart) to God’s will! “Let us commend ourselves and one another, and our whole life to Christ God” to accomplish the Mystery of Love-Eucharist to God and neighbor in God with the Divine Love of the Holy Spirit. You love (keep God’s commandments, God’s will with utmost discernment and counsel), and don’t worry about anything else – that is God’s work; seek the Kingdom of God (the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit), and everything else will be added to you by God (more precisely, you will not need it).
