Next, we will talk about the catechumenate: slavery-obedience to Christ, which orthodoxly gives the catechumen an experiential knowledge of sin-death, passions-hell (“keep your mind in hell, but do not despair, but hope in God-Love, Who saves from the depths of hell”), leads the catechumen into a state of humility and need-desire for Christ the Savior, desire for the operation-baptism, into a state of submission and self-surrender to Christ: “I am the Lord’s servant, let it be to me according to all the will of God”—and it is precisely in such a state of humility, self-surrender, voluntary submission-slavery to the Lord Jesus Christ that the catechumen in the Mystery of Baptism-Marriage conceives in himself (from God) the Son of God, accepts the seed of the Holy Spirit!
