“Believe?.. Then let it be according to your faith… be healthy!” Since we do not know how to repent, then doctors are needed (and, probably, psychiatrists first of all) and there is a need for various kinds of medicines, including antidepressants. But medicines will not help if we do not at least start repenting, do not fight sin (what it means “to fight sin, passions” – in the second part), which caused this or that disease-symptom, the sin of godlessness, self-deification, followed by nihilism, desperate desire “not to be” (No antidepressant will help, it only “slows down” the processes of thinking in a person, but does not give a positive goal, hope, support, and as soon as its effect ends – the person again wants “not to be”, to commit suicide). Now many people take antidepressants, being in a desperate state of emptiness, hopelessness, and think that this solves the problem. They constantly program their nature for despair, emptiness, hopelessness (in one word – negative) and take medicine?! Without repentance, no disease is cured: “Go and sin no more, lest something worse happen to you”. Healing is always a result of faith, repentance, and without it the seemingly healthy will be worse than before, because he has a healthy body to commit more sin. Therefore, first repentance, proper spiritual life, rooted in the eucharistic life of the Church (repentance – this is a gradual transformation of the egoistic way of existence into a trinitarian [in the image of the Holy Trinity], into a god-man way of existence).

The goal of treating mental-physical diseases (treatment – this is patching up the old “clothes” of fleshly existence, until a garment “of the wedding feast”, the Kingdom of God is sewn for me; as the apostle says: I do not want to be unclothed, but to be clothed, so that I would not be naked. The garment of the Kingdom of God – the Holy Spirit, the Glory of the Godhead. Adam before the fall was clothed in the Glory of God, and after the fall became naked, and the Lord clothed him in “leather tunics” of fleshly existence, so that he could survive, hold on, until the Savior comes again and clothes him in the Glory of the Kingdom of God – in God Himself. Leather tunics – this is temporary clothing, until a permanent garment of the Holy Spirit is sewn for me. Death – this is a “compulsory changing room”; there you must take off those leather tunics, and woe to those who did not manage during their earthly life to “sew” repentance “wedding garment”! Therefore, it is dangerous and foolish to go to the changing room without having ordered the garment in advance, without giving a deposit to the “shoemakers”… and at least once go for a fitting! Ideally, to which the Church calls – it is to manage to sew the Wedding garment while still in leather tunics and without compulsory, necessary help from others [i.e., before death: separation of soul and body] to change clothes oneself, that is, still in life to move from death to Eternal Life) – to continue existence in this world, in which there is still a possibility for repentance, a chance to buy more oil for the lamps (see the parable of the ten virgins). This – is the only sensible justification for treating physical and mental diseases. And not to be treated in order to “stretch” here as long as possible; not for the purpose of eating more potatoes and bathing in various illusory pleasures, which aggravate the mental state here and are the cause of unspeakable torments there (beyond the “changing room”, or “changing room”, if there is a change of clothes… at the doors to eternity, which pagans call the end-death).

Should you seek medical help to alleviate pain and illness? If you are healthy in spirit, do not go, for the doctors will not help you, because your psycho-somatic illness is given to you by God (providentially) simultaneously as a healing remedy, a preventive measure, and a prophylactic. Fact: Apostle Paul, on the third heaven, asked God to remove the thorn of Satan—a disease (of the eyes or head—it doesn’t really matter; just imagine how intense the pain must have been that, even in the third heaven, the apostle could not forget it), and the Lord told him that it was not beneficial for him to be healthy (more about this aspect of spiritual life in the second part); do not forget, this is a man from whose shadow people received healing, his clothes were passed to the sick, and they were healed…
If your faith is so weak that you cannot even say, “I believe, Lord, help my unbelief,” or if you are a nominal Christian or a pagan—definitely go for treatment, because you have not yet begun to repent, to acquire the love of Christ. And without love, as the apostle says, even if I give my body to be burned (one might say, “burned” by diseases for some imaginary Jesus, and not for the second person of the Holy Trinity, who incarnated—this is about those who irrationally, in pride, reject legitimate treatment without any basis other than fanaticism, which they call virtue), it will benefit me nothing!!! Love is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, but only hearts purified in the crucible of repentance receive Him. Not a condition (rational, indifferent trust, as a set of rational knowledge) saves faith—demons also believe and tremble, but faith—as a life according to the laws of spiritual life—the commandments of God (and not one’s own interpretation of God’s commandments—look at the gospel ‘righteous’ who crucified God, thinking they served God according to Scripture: and by the law, He must die…).
