(II) 9.Rite of the Liturgy of Basil the Great:

The presbyter takes a piece of the broken Lamb, makes the sign of the cross over the holy chalice, immersing it, and says: The fullness of the Holy Spirit.

Faithful: Amen.

And, taking the warm water, the Presbyter blesses it, saying:

Blessed is the warmth of Your saints, always, now, and ever, and unto ages of ages.

Faithful: Amen.

And the presbyter pours the warm water as needed, crosswise, into the holy chalice, saying:

The warmth of faith, full of the Holy Spirit.

Faithful: Amen.

And the whole church prays before communion (or the presbyter, and the church listens or repeats after him): I believe, Lord, and I confess that You are truly Christ, the Son of the living God, who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I also believe that this is indeed Your Pure Body, and this is indeed Your Precious Blood. Therefore, I pray to You: have mercy on me, and forgive my transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, in word and deed, known and unknown; and make me worthy to partake without condemnation of Your Pure Mysteries for the remission of sins and for eternal life. Amen.

Of Your Mystical Supper, Son of God, accept me today as a communicant, for I will not speak of the mystery to Your enemies, nor will I give You a kiss as did Judas, but like the thief, I confess You: remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom.

Let not the communion of Your Holy Mysteries be for my judgment or condemnation, Lord, but for the healing of soul and body.

And the entire church partakes of the Holy Gifts, first the presbyter, then all the faithful (in order, by rank and service).

After communion, the presbyter says: This has touched our lips, and will take away our iniquities, and purge our sins. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

And the whole church sings: Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the Holy Lord Jesus, the only Sinless One. We venerate Your Cross, O Christ, and we praise and glorify Your Holy Resurrection, for You are our God, and we know no other than You, we call on Your name. Come, all you faithful, let us venerate Christ’s Holy Resurrection, for behold through the cross joy has come into all the world. Ever blessing the Lord, let us sing His Resurrection, for by enduring the cross for us, He has destroyed death by death.

Shine, shine, O New Jerusalem! The glory of the Lord has shone on you. Exult now, and be glad, O Zion! And you, Pure Mother of God, rejoice in the resurrection of your Son.

O great and holiest Pascha, Christ! O Wisdom, Word of God, and Power! Grant us truly to partake of You in the never-ending day of Your Kingdom.

The presbyter, blessing the faithful with his hand, says: Save, O God, Your people and bless Your inheritance.

Faithful: We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshipping the Undivided Trinity, for it has saved us.

The presbyter returns to the holy altar, and taking the censer, censes three times, saying:

Having ascended into heaven, O God, and Your glory over all the earth.

Then he turns to the faithful and, blessing them with the holy chalice, says:

Always, now, and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

The presbyter retires to the altar and places the Holy Gifts there.

Faithful: Amen. Let our mouths be filled with Your praise, O Lord, that we may sing of Your glory, for You have made us worthy to partake of Your holy, divine, immortal, and life-giving Mysteries. Keep us in Your holiness, that all the day we may meditate upon Your righteousness. Alleluia (three times).

Then, according to the order of the liturgy, follows the litany of thanksgiving:

Presbyter: Having received the divine, holy, pure, immortal, heavenly, life-creating, and awesome Mysteries of Christ, let us worthily give thanks to the Lord.

Faithful: Lord, have mercy.

Presbyter: Help us, save us, have mercy on us, and protect us, O God, by Your grace.

Faithful: Lord, have mercy.

Presbyter: Having asked for a perfect, holy, peaceful, and sinless day, let us commend ourselves, and each other, and all our life to Christ our God.

Faithful: To You, O Lord.

Presbyter prays (Prayer of thanksgiving): We thank You, O Lord our God, for the communion of Your holy, most pure, immortal, and heavenly Mysteries which You have granted us for the benefit, sanctification, and healing of our souls and bodies. Let this communion of Your Holy Body and Blood of Christ be for us the faith unashamed, the love unfained, the fullness of wisdom, the healing of soul and body, the repelling of every adversary, the observance of Your commandments, and an acceptable defense at the dread Judgment Seat of Your Christ. For You are our sanctification, and to You we give glory, to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

Faithful: Amen.

Presbyter: Let us depart in peace. Faithful: In the name of the Lord. Presbyter: Let us pray to the Lord. Faithful: Lord, have mercy.

Presbyter prays (ambon prayer): “Lord, You bless those who bless You…” and everything that follows according to the order.
