The purpose of life for every person (and angel), with which they were created by God-Love, is to inherit eternal life (the Kingdom of God), to acquire the Holy Spirit, to become deified, to become a god by Grace (that is, to possess everything (all characteristics, blessings) that God possesses by His nature, except for the identity with His nature! The main thing is the way of existence, “how,” and not “what,” “what to hypostatize”; created hypostases in deification become Love by Grace, a Catholic personality – nothing can be added to this and there is no need!)! “This is eternal life, that they may know (experience, become one inseparably and unchangeably) You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent… That they all may be one: as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us… that they may be perfected in unity (of Personal Hypostatic Being as communication-perichoresis – the Life of the Holy Trinity)!” (see John 17). The purpose of all existence is prayer, everything is created for prayer in the Holy Spirit!
So, we are created for prayer – for communion with God, and in God, in the Holy Spirit with all other Hypostases (to have everything in common with all Hypostases: created and Uncreated)! Prayer = communion (from the word: common, community), to communicate = to have (something) in common. With God (and with each other) we must have everything(!) in common (“All that is Mine is Yours, and Yours is Mine!”) – we (each created hypostasis – human and angel) are called to deification, to participation in the Mystery (Eucharist of the Body of Christ: “He who eats Me will live because of Me”) of the absolute unity of all reality-truth – “That they all may be one: all Mine is Yours, and Yours is Mine; I in You, and You in Me; We in them, and they in Us!” In us (created hypostases, “I”) everything of Divinity by grace should be common with God, and with God with us – all our essence (which is already in God, in Jesus Christ, in the hypostasis of the Son of the Father). God with man already has everything in common – God became man, the Son of God, the Second Hypostasis of the Holy Trinity was incarnate, everything human belongs to God, is part of Him (God in Christ assimilated, made organic, natural, hypostatic His own our created nature!). God-Love has everything in common with each person, God-Love shares everything with us (except sin)! God prays perfectly – He gave Himself entirely to us, so that we might have all of Him in us, and accepted all of us, so that we might be fully in Him. The Most Holy Theotokos – the true intercessor – has already resurrected, entered into the state of perfect prayer-communion-unity with God: fully accepted God and gave herself entirely to God! Growing in prayer is to become like God, to become like God in everything (for by the spiritual law: like unites with like, and prayer is communion-union).
Prayer – communion of the Holy Spirit, is communication (having in common, communion with God and the Saints) in the Holy Spirit. The conditions for communion of the Holy Spirit (acquisition of the Holy Spirit) = conditions of proper prayer, under which prayer is genuine, that is, communion, community-communion of the Holy Spirit (or properly ascetically leads to the acquisition of the Holy Spirit, to grace-filled prayer in the Holy Spirit). Prayer is the essence of spiritual life. The essence of the struggle of the catechumen, the entire spiritual struggle – is to pray properly ascetically (forcing oneself to become like God, Jesus Christ in thoughts, words, feelings, deeds, desires – to fervently fulfill all the commandments of God, the essence of which is Love for God and the image of God, to be merciful, to acquire a merciful heart for everyone and everything), to become capable in time of prayer in the Holy Spirit (of baptism with the Holy Spirit)! The goal of a person’s life is to become a Christian, to be baptized with the Holy Spirit, to acquire the Holy Spirit – perfect prayer-communion-perichoresis: “I in God, and God in me; I – the abode-temple of the Holy Trinity and all the Saints.”
Life is prayer, communion with God (to live = to pray). Eve in paradise stopped praying (communing with God) and began to converse with Satan, with demonic sinful thoughts (about self-deification), and, deceived by the devil, sinned (began to act on the path of egoism), lost the grace of God (which is returned only by repentance – but Adam and Eve did not repent, but justified themselves and blamed others for their sin – Eve: the serpent deceived me, and Adam: the woman is to blame, she gave me and I ate…); Adam also broke off prayer (communion with God, in the Holy Spirit), because he entered into communion with the woman not in God, not in the Holy Spirit (because before Eve’s repentance it was impossible, because grace is returned only by repentance, a humble and contrite heart), but in sin, in her sinful state, he shared her sin (“ate (took the path of egoistic self-deification) from the forbidden fruit that Eve gave him”) – and both lost the grace of the Holy Spirit (“saw themselves naked”), died, became godless. Adam and Eve should not have interrupted prayer, not pay attention to extraneous thoughts, or ask God about this extraneous thought, about this obstacle to prayer, which appeared in Paradise by the mercy of God (for the sake of pedagogy and spiritual growth of man). Man in paradise failed the test – the history of salvation began… So, Adam stopped praying, sinned and died. To commit a sin is to interrupt prayer, to stop communion with God, and as a consequence – death. Prayerlessness = godlessness = death. Life is prayer-communion with God, divine vision! Death is prayerlessness, breaking communion with God, losing the Holy Spirit!
