The purpose of human life is to acquire the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, Advocate, Mercy, Humility… and therefore, those who wish to acquire the Holy Spirit must care for these Divine virtues. For the smallest impulse-thought of judgment, the Holy Spirit left the ascetics (those who were partakers of Him) for many years (the term depends on the acquisition of God-receptive humility), until with utmost humility, self-abasement, a contrite and broken heart, saving, God-pleasing consciousness-thought (I am nothing, the greatest sinner, under all creation, a worm and not a man, dust and ashes, etc.) they again received the Holy Spirit! (Such is Divine pedagogy). Otherwise, it cannot be, because those who judge others side with the devil-prosecutor. What is common between the Advocate-Comforter and the prosecutor, between light and darkness, between God and Satan? So the Lord enlightens those who allow the spirit of judgment into themselves (“Pride always precedes a fall,” say the Fathers, “exalting oneself, elevating above others, disdain, judgment of neighbors”). And what then awaits us, who are only engaged in judging everyone left and right; all our conversations are built on judging others (don’t believe it? Watch yourself a little, and you will see the truth of our testimony). What kind of acquisition of the Holy Spirit are we concerned with in this? Firstly, we don’t even suspect that the purpose of our life, our existence, is to acquire the Holy Spirit, and secondly, we do only what is contrary to the Holy Spirit, we blaspheme the Holy Spirit! Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us, your sinful (cunning and lazy) servants!
“Who are you to judge another’s servant? And why do you judge your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ… Therefore, each of us shall give an account of himself to God (how do you love and show mercy? The Last Judgment is an exam-test on love-mercy! Watch yourself so that you are ready to pass the test; at the exam (Last Judgment) you will answer for yourself: what have you learned, what skills have you acquired – to show mercy, to pity, to empathize, to suffer with… or to hate, judge, despise, loathe…). Let us stop judging one another, and instead think about how to avoid giving the neighbor any reason to stumble or be tempted (love and show mercy to one another)” (see Romans 14:10-13).
At the Last Judgment, every person will realize their sins and will no longer judge anyone; just as the Pharisees, convicted by their conscience, remembered their sins, went out, and did not condemn the unfortunate woman caught in adultery, whom they wanted to stone (see John 8:1-11). The Lord also never judges anyone: “neither do I condemn you”; the sinner is left not to condemn himself, to forgive himself, to show mercy to himself, and to fulfill the commandment of God: go and sin no more; go to Eternal Life, go to deification by the Holy Spirit, do not live without the Holy Spirit, but live to acquire the Holy Spirit!
“Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us” (see Romans 8:31-39). The main thing is not to condemn yourself!
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; (show mercy, and you will be shown mercy)” (see Luke 6:37).
Do not judge – and no one will ever judge you! For in this world, there is one (sole) judge – and that is you!38 God is Love! God is not a judge and does not judge anyone! God is either the defendant (crucified), or the Advocate-Defender-Paraclete-Comforter! The devil is not a judge, the devil is the prosecutor, slanderer, deceiver, accuser!
Forgive – and you will be forgiven! God is Love – even before the creation of the world, He forgave everyone everything – every moment, always loves everyone Divinely, Love accepts everything, holds everyone in His Fatherly embrace, leading everything and everyone to deification in the Son by the Holy Spirit! If you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven! Who will not forgive? You will not forgive yourself!!! God has forgiven you, but you will not forgive yourself for all the evil you have done! The hardest thing is to forgive yourself! Especially when you realize that everyone (both friends and enemies, both near and far – absolutely all persons) were your benefactors (God is Love, Loves you Divinely (cares for you) through everyone and everything), everyone served you, did good to you (by the Mercy of God, Who directs and allows everything for the good of each), and you repaid them for their good with evil, hatred! And how can you forgive yourself… when you do not know how to forgive, when you have never forgiven?! This is hell – the torment of conscience! If you forgive your neighbors and God from the heart, you will be able to forgive yourself! “Judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful!” Whoever has not shown mercy will not forgive himself, will not have mercy on himself, but will condemn himself to hell, will not want to enter the Eucharistic Feast, although God invites everyone to the Kingdom of God, and he will not want to, like the elder brother of the prodigal son (see Luke 15:28).
